Mark Lubow Cloud11

Mark Lubow is the founder and CEO of Cloud11 LLC. In this role, Mark helps clients define their goals for new technology and analytics upfront, often by simply asking “What do you want to know about your customers that you don’t already know today?” The answers to these questions provide the starting point for finding the best combination of technologies and partnerships. With over 20 years of experience consulting for Fortune 500 companies in telecom & technology, Mark is also able to quickly get to the decision makers that can help accelerate projects and rapidly overcome obstacles.

Why did he start Cloud11?

While Mark has great respect for online retail companies, he laments the downside of their success at driving many offline retailers out of business. Online retailers have a built-in advantage in that they are data-driven from the ground up.  However, Brick & Mortar has equally valuable data available, but they just need help accessing, analyzing and making it actionable.

What about his qualifications?

Mark has worked as a management consultant to C-level executives at tier 1 telecom companies to bring new wireless products to market, including AT&T, Sprint, Comcast, Cox and KDDI (Japan). In fact, with Cox and Cisco he managed the launch of the largest indoor WiFi analytics platform in the world in Las Vegas.

Why focus on WiFi?

Seeing firsthand that WiFi analytics unlocked the hidden value of data in physical spaces, he turned his attention to the retail world with a conviction that this data could help level the playing field. While he was initially focused on properties with existing WiFi, Mark began seeing a concerning trend of networks that were poorly designed, installed & maintained. Worse, the property owners were mostly unaware of these issues because their vendors never took the time to explain how to monitor and manage their own networks.

How is Cloud11 different from your local IT vendor?

Mark invests significant time understanding client needs, retail market dynamics and staying current on emerging retail technology. This enables an ongoing, two-way relationship with clients that continues well beyond a WiFi installation or technology integration. He not only wants his clients to succeed, he wants to make sure they are always aware of new tools that can help them provide a better experience for their customers. As a result, he often plays the role of a trusted advisor and part-time CTO/CIO for clients whose time is better spent focusing on their business, not boiling the ocean trying to stay on top of emerging technology or analyzing reams of data.

What else should I know?

Mark was destined to get into wireless technology. He was the first of his friends to get a mobile phone while a student at the University of Pennsylvania (aka ‘not Penn State’) and sadly spent more time at the Sprint PCS store in downtown Philadelphia learning about mobile phones than at the physics lab on campus. He currently lives in Atlanta, GA.
